GUWAHATI: Eighteen minutes apart at birth, the number difference was reduced to 13 in HSLC examination results for twins Madhurya and Mriganka Nath but in the reverse order. While younger brother Mriganka bagged the 2
nd position in the results declared on Friday, Madhurya came 15th.
"He is 18 minutes younger than me. But today he got 2nd position and I got 15th," said Madhurya Nath of Saint Vivekananda English Academy. He seemed to be very happy with his brother's success while their parents, doctor Bipul Kumar Nath and teacher Gita Nath of Kamakhya Gate area of the city, received congratulatory greetings from hundreds of guardians of other students at the school campus.
"We allowed both of them to continue their studies at their own pace," said mother Gitali Nath, recounting the preparation pattern of the boys in the run-up to the examinations. The mother said the twins did not stick to a strict routine, nor did the parents force the students into long hours of study. The brothers, however, said they studied for 12 hours daily after clearing the test examinations.
Though disparate in rank, the twins are united in their ambition of cracking the IIT exams next.
